Welcome and Getting Started

Bowls is a game for any age and Harperbury Bowls Club prides itself on having bowlers from the ages of 10 - 90+, with concessionary rates for juniors and students.

Bowls is also a game that can be played by people with a wide range of disabilities and Harperbury Bowls Club is one of the few clubs in the area with a fully motorised specially adapted bowls wheelchair and easy access to our green and we welcome people with disabilities.

If you do not wish to bowl, you may be able to join Harperbury as an associate member.  Associate Members participate in all the other social activities of the club.

Getting Started

It is easy to join Harperbury Bowls Club.  You are also likely to find someone at the club most days, so just pop along to our green (location on the contact us page) and you will be given a warm weclome and will be put in touch with our coaching team.

Our coaching team will be able to take you through the rudiments of bowling and support new members so that you wont feel alone.  First year membership is £28 to new bowlers.

Throught the season our coaches are available on Monday afternoons and early evening to assist new and more experienced bowlers.  Our coaches are also available at other times by appointment.

Alternatively, contact Jan Taylor, our membership secretary (details on our who's who page) and she will make arrangements convenient to you to visit the club and meet up with a member of our recruitment team.

What Do I Need To Play Bowls?

The only thing you need to bring to start is a pair of flat, trainer type shoes (no heels).  We have plenty of spare bowls of all sizes so you can try the game without any commitment.

Later on, if you take up the game you may wish to purchase a club shirt from.  Eventually most players of the game like to purchase their own bowls; but that can all wait until a later stage.
